The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine at Florida International University seeks applicants for an exciting academic position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, in the area of medical ethics, with research or practice-based experience in the areas of health disparities, human rights, or related disciplines, to integrate ethical issues longitudinally into the overall medical school curriculum.
This position will provide support, consultation, and collaboration for researchers specializing in various aspects of social and behavioral health for the Medicine & Society Program, as well as serve as the on-call ethicists for students and faculty. The successful candidate will collaborate with researchers on ethical issues in clinical and community-based health research. They will also participate in faculty development on ethics through the Office of Medical Education, and work with fellow faculty to continuously evaluate and improve the Medicine & Society curriculum. The successful candidate is expected to serve as mentor for students throughout their four years of enrollment, and contribute to the academic life of the College.
This is a doctoral level position and competitive applicants will be expected to have experience with educational technologies, interactive instructional techniques, as well as a working knowledge of evidence-based research. The successful candidate will have a robust record in collaborative work and peer-reviewed publications. Candidates with an interest in health disparities research are highly desirable.
