Welcome to the Pediatric Ethics Consortium (PEC) web site. The PEC is comprised of participants from around the United States (and abroad) in the disciplines of philosophical ethics, religious ethics, clinical medicine, nursing, social work, research, law, and more.

The PEC and its web site are designed to provide information, materials, and tools to develop a better understanding of the ethical issues in the care of children. Participation in the PEC is free of charge (just fill out your directory information), and participation makes available relevant information about the many other participants as well as the ability to join the PEC listserv.

The web site is regularly updated through the efforts of the PEC Editorial Board, and a bi-monthly newsletter, describing web site changes, upcoming events, and other related announcements, is sent to all PEC participants.

The PEC works with the American Society for Bioethics and Humanities (ASBH) through the Pediatric Ethics Affinity Group which meets annually in conjunction with each October's ASBH national conference. We also are indebted to, among others, the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Bioethics (and Brenda Mears in particular) for generously allowing us to use information they gather for their members.

For more information, please peruse the site or contact the PEC coordinator, D. Micah Hester, the web specialist, Allison Ketcher, or any of the PEC content editors.
